Lots of Vegan Food in Rochester, NY {Part 10}

Another report of vegan eats in Rochester and I still haven’t eaten my way entirely through the city! Though there were a couple of repeats, I am reporting on yummy new options at those spots. Can’t wait to return and eat some more…

Crisp

I love that Crisp is right down the block and that they have updated their menu since my last visit. New, delicious vegan options drew us in for a nice date night. We started with the Sweet Chili Fried Tofu, breaded and fried tofu tossed in sweet chili sauce, radishes, and jalapeΓ±os. Absolutely dreamy, but not as crisp as I wanted. Of course, it is doused in the flavorful sauce… so I don’t want to sacrifice that either.

A new vegan entree: Jackfruit BBQ “Pulled Pork,” served with mashed yams, collard greens, house Carolina Gold sauce and Texas Toast. So creamy and delicious. Jackfruit was not shredded but was tender

His beer, my blackberry mojito

New time I will get the vegan chocolate tart. But I was too stuffed this time.

Bahile Ethiopian Food

I have to admit… I never had bad Ethiopian food. So I chose Bahile Ethiopian Food because it offered a veggie combo plate for easy ordering. Everything was delicious but I ran out of injera.

Jines Restaurant

You would think that Jines Restaurant, situated in a hip part of the city, would have more vegan options. But this Broccoli Burger was pretty much the only one! I enjoyed it thanks to the nostalgia served along side it. Growing up on Long Island, diners were a place I hung out in often… and they served vegetarian burgers that had a similar feel. Though I don’t think I’d return for this burger, especially with Swillburger around, it did the job.

Han Noodle Bar

Han Noodle Bar‘s bun are worth another mention. The soft pillowy bao rice buns are delicious but are gone way too soon. Two-bite babies…

The mushroom ones had a tasty sauce but they the innards were a bit rubbery.

Lake Champlain Chocolates

After receiving a package of Lake Champlain Chocolate vegan caramels from my class parent, I was in love. So it was very nice to find this selection of truffles at Abundance Co-op. This Vermont-based company had chocolate perfected and there’s a lot more vegan items to try!

Voula’s Greek Sweets

Back for brunch at Voula’s Greek Sweets so I could try one of their tofu scrambles. Everything I have had from this spot was been top-notch. It might develop as my go-to tofu scramble option! This is the Mt. Olympus Plate, a pile of lemon potatoes sauteed with baby spinach topped with tofu scramble, lentils, vegan feta, and some oven roasted tomato.

Other scrambles in the distance

Swillburger

Ok, I know I go to Swillburger like every time I go to Rochester, but now they have this fried tofu sandwich option! It really has a kind of “filet-o-fish” feel, which a mustardy breading and exquisite crunch. I feel like tartar sauce would send this sandwich over the moon. Maybe I’ll bring some next time!

Again, the crunch is outstanding…

And for the road, the BEST vegan chocolate bar in existence: Nellie’s Nutty Nougat. We picked this up at the new Whole Foods that opened up… the first one in the area because the area is dominated by Wegmans.

That’s all for this time! Check out previous ROC food compilations below:
