Teacher Staff Development: Polar Bear Brunch & Plunge

With winter on its way out and my second New Years Polar Bear Plunge thwarted by severely cold weather (first here), it was our duty to get in the beloved ocean.  And it would be easy to get into Brighton Beach in Brooklyn as my friend lives right on top of it!  So first, a boozy brunch that included cupcakes from Georgetown Cupcake.

Georgetown’s vegan carrot cupcake with cream cheese frosting is a delicious cupcake option, but I would hope they would have expanded vegan options at this point. When I did a vegan cupcake crawl in Manhattan 4 years ago it was the only option. I guess I wear vegan rose-colored glasses.  Oh well. It is a very yummy cupcake.

“So pretty…” I say like Jeff Mangum in Naomi which has one of the most romantic/creepy opening lines to a song: “Your prettiness is seeping through, out of the dress I took from you…”

I brought a few items to help my sustenance: a batch of vegan blueberry pancake batter (beautiful on the left) and some Field Roast apple sage sausage I had lying around which was very well received.  It became part of yummy hash with bok choy greens and sweet potato.

Deliciousness

Then we jumped in and took many ridiculous pictures in our bathing suits afterwards, many inappropriate for sharing due to our very sexy teacher physiques.  Tame and entertaining, this one paired with Jane Russell in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes
