Dried Pineapple Flowers

Did you ever see those gorgeous pictures of Hummingbird Cake with the pretty dried pineapple flower garnish? They are the perfect use for a not so ripe pineapple. Though this tutorial took the task so serious, including scooping out all the eyes on the pineapple. It seemed like a waste of time to me. So here is my simplified tutorial:

1.) Preheat the oven at 225. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.

2.) Cut the top and bottom of the pineapple, then cut down the sides.

3.) Slice really thin slices and put them on the baking sheet. The thinner, the prettier (as they curl up nicely) and the quicker they dry out. If you cut them uneven, like I did many time, put the thin half on the pan and put the thick half in your mouth.

4.) Dry ’em out in the oven for an hour or two. Flip them in regular intervals, though I didn’t. But I should have.

5.) Then take them out and let them dry in the cupcake pan so they can curve upward. Like for days. Plural.

So pretty.
