Auld Lang Syne πŸ•›πŸΎ

Ah, goodbye 2010’s. It is time for a new decade.

Given my accomplishments the last ten years, my mind boggles with possibility for the next 10. The key to growing old, I’ve learned, is to make Time your friend–to honor it, to respect its force, its sometimes cruelty. Accept its limitations, grab its hand and take it on adventures. Feed it and it shall feed you back. Because Time, as with any relationship, will dwindle if left neglected. Oh, and you gotta make a big deal on its birthday. New Years.

Though I resent the social pressure of the holiday, I found myself amongst friends old and new in an ideal space for 2019’s end. This merits a star dress and a selfie. Because in spite of all the gorgeous pictures of our beautiful world I take, Milky Way included, all nine of my Top Nine are pictures of my mug. 🀷

My glass slippers wait for the subway, possible made from a pumpkin? A dirty, smelly pumpkin.

Hmmm, let’s think of all the 2020 word plays we can. And score! We can finally have New Years Eve glasses we can see through again.

Your shoes are your personality. Test it. You can often draw parallels.

Gorgeous cake the hostess made–champagne and strawberry. But not vegan.

Before the drinks began to hit–tame, calm, subdued. I was adamant about snapping this “before” picture early on. Before…

wackiness ensued.

It is important to note that I’ve been friends with most of these folks for over two decades. This is another wonderful part of Time. It creates unbreakable bonds.

You don’t even care if they rest a beer on your head.

Sangria toasts. Sangria means blood in Spanish.

Getting ready for midnight.

Perfect timing… “Happy New Year!”

Should auld acquaintance be forgot
And never brought to mind
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
And auld lang syne

I almost forgot… my sweet treat addition using the awesome sprinkles my sister got me for Christmas from Sweetapolita.

I made marzipan blondies with a chocolate drizzle.

I was happy to take home an empty pan at the end of the evening.

Though I don’t make declarations of resolutions, I am motivated by the start of a new year, as I am by the start of a new season, month, week, day. Fill your 2020 with the things you love. Because it’s your choice. Because that may not be your natural inclination. Because so much fills your time that you cannot control, seize the time that is under your command. Maximize it to reap the most rewards. Adventures await! xoxov.v. 😘
