We were greeted by one of the three brothers as we approached the counter and I ordered my personal pizza, whole wheat crust and vegan cheese, please. Without a bat of an eye he called the order out to the other pizza people. Wait, did he hear me right? “That’s vegan cheese, right?” I ask because I’m used to more of a hassle, more of a need for explanation/clarification. Nope, he got it right. My personal pie was delivered soon thereafter and I was in heaven. A fabulous pizza pie, all for me. Yum.

So content was I that my sister snapped my picture to cherish the moment. After eating half of the pie, I got the rest to go. But I was curious! How and why was this little pizzeria knocking my big vegan socks off? I pried. Inquiring whether they made vegan calzone as well, the young man working the register described their calzone rolls: cashew ricotta,
Daiya, etc. I nearly fainted. It turns out this young man, a two year vegan, has created an amazing vegan menu addendum to this establishment’s regular one. 12″, 18″ and Sicilian pizzas with your choice of sauce, vegan cheese (They have Daiya and
Teese!) and toppings, including veggie Italian sausage, grilled tofu and veggie meatball… creative and delicious-sounding specialty pies… heroes (seitan parmesan, veg meatball parmesan, etc), as well as rolls: tofu cutlet roll, tempeh roll, sausage roll. All this with more vegan options to come! Beyond all of these wonderful vegan choices, great service and a familial atmosphere,
Three Brothers‘ prices deserve a mention too. They’re way reasonable!
Three Brothers (and one presumed son, the vegan who’s rocking the Long Island pizza world) is absolutely a must. I know that I’ll be back soon.

In other vegan pizza news, I just happened to stumble across this sign on Hudson street in the West Village. Yes, it is true. The West side will finally get some
Slice. Pizza, pizza, Daddy-O!
