Vegans of Seitan in Linden, New Jersey

Vegans of Seitan is an all-vegan soul food eatery in Linden, New Jersey that was just down the street from where I was running errands. But I’ll admit that I selected where to run my errands based on where my hunger may be adequately sated afterwards. And I had been low-key stalking Vegans of Seitan for a bit, placing it on top of the New Jersey version of my to-eat list.

But I stumbled into Vegans of Seitan‘s welcoming space nonchalantly like one would just happen to run into a crush. It was immediately obvious that I need not hide my love away. Yvette, an owner along with her sister in the kitchen, took such good care of me, of her customers, using the space to build connections with the vegan community.

I decided to eat in–partly because it had been so long since I had the opportunity to do so, but also because of the warmth and heart in the place. I got the Fried Chicken Dinner with Collard greens and their mac and cheese. I can’t resist vegan versions of traditional soul food.

It was exactly what I needed… and would need again later when I got home. Two portions really.
