Vegan in Fairbanks, Alaska
All the Lunches

Round two of my vegan eats in Fairbanks, Alaska! Starting with East Ramp Pizza and their dreamy vegan ricotta. It’s made in-house, free of packages, and so a thousand times better.

The East Ramp area is an aircraft operations area, so East Ramp Pizza is dedicated to the aviation history of the area, complete with some neat artifacts in the waiting area.

Though my pizza must have sat while I waited slightly out of the counterperson view after completing my sale, as it was almost completely cold when handed to me finally, it was still very satisfying and delicious.

Perfection–pretty much. Crust crispy and not too thin/thick, great sauce, that house-made almond ricotta and my topping choices–fresh basil and caramelized onion. Weird that the cheese counted as a topping though. So price was a bit high for the size.

Me pretending I’m not going to eat the whole pie.

I would definitely head to East Ramp Pizza again! And I thank them heartily for the vegan option!

Oishi Bakery is a “Japanese Bakery with Alaskan Inspiration.” How cool and unexpected!

I got the shiso onigiri, seaweed-wrapped shiso-packed rice ball. Shiso is also called “Beefsteak plant.” It is an aromatic herb in the mint family.

A yummy quick bite

Their coconut butter mochi is sublime. One was a chocolate swirled, the other coconut. Definite worth a stop for a sweet bite.

I’m thankful that Cheesehead Joint has a vegan mac and cheese option, though the price is a bit high. $18 for a vegan mac with one topping. It was supposed to come with tots, but they were not in the bag. They would have increased the value for sure.

Super rich, creamy and flavorful

I suppose this also padded the bill! A vegan Cereal Shake! $12.

What cool vegan options! Cheesehead Joint is definitely a vegan gem in Fairbanks.

The Crepery in downtown Fairbanks has both sweet and savory vegan crepe options. This fact just blew me away. Then this lovely thing was set in front of me. A massive rolled crepe packed with vegan chocolate hazelnut spread and a few banana pieces. Hubba hubba.

Great crepe texture… but ratio of hazelnut spread to banana was off. Am I crazy for wanting less spread and more fruit?! Maybe. It was dreamy nonetheless.

Really rich and delicious.

Excited about see this banana!

Gotta get back to The Crepery to try more.

Lastly a quick trip to pick up a veggie burger and fries at Fatburger. Because I really had a craving for an old school veggie burger… a Boca patty! I ordered online and drove the 2 minutes from my hotel for the pick-up.

You can never go wrong with fries.

There it is, looking satisfying. I appreciate the ease in customizing the burger as this was exactly what I wanted.

Against my better judgement I ordered a $14 vegan vanilla shake. Why are vegan shakes so expensive in Fairbanks?! (See below)

Crazy prices, right? Well I suppose they wouldn’t price ’em that way if they weren’t selling? I was bummed that the coconut whip promised in the description, better justifying the price, was not available at the Fairbanks location. Oh well. It was the last splurge of my trip.

Thank you Fairbanks for all the yummy options! I hope to be back soon.
