This little piggy went to
The Greenmarket in Union Square

I am one visit away from the Union Square Greenmarket being one of my official Favorite Things. It’s like a living gallery with tactile and tasty displays… plus real-life, non-pretentious folk from mostly upper New York… They’re not playing some role. They’re farmers and makers, by merit and not by illustrative tattoos of food clip art on their arms.

Now speaking of pretentiousness, here is the best of a few pics I took of the compost bins. I don’t know why I thought it’d be good subject matter… maybe because it was on the way back to the Earth and I thought that was pretty neat. Note: When I was a teenager I once photographed the inside of the outhouse, so…

The concessions (heh heh) at this gallery are also tasty. Like this all-vegan stand that gave me my breakfast.. Body & Soul Bake Shop.

A big fat sweet potato roll that tasted oddly like lipstick but was also good. I know that is weird, but my palate doesn’t handle sweet the way it used to.

And since this gimmicky eatery is all the buzz right now, I stopped by Saltbae (Yes, the meme guy) in Union Square to see if that free veggie burger they offer to women was vegan. It’s not. It contains eggs. But the fries are free too right now, and I believe they’re vegan! I’m going to put this search term here so others can know: vegan saltbae.
