The Big 5-0

My guy just turned 50 and I suppose I will be soon-ish too! It is very surreal to me; the passage of time seems to pass in modules–chunks of years spent in specific mindset, followed by the next evolution of your perceptions. It is why I cannot remember my age sometimes. But yes, he is now 50. And so that required a cake and some celebrating.

He wanted a yellow cake, so I hit the usual amazing recipe by Nora Cooks, linked here for the umpteenth time. Also in that recipe, this: a mind-blowing chocolate buttercream that oozes with nostalgia.

Requisite signage as it is quite the milestone. Half of a century.

I spent the day helping him with his goal of filming 50 different tricks at the skatepark. He did it!

Part of the celebration was an overnight stay for us and the kiddos at an area motel… with the purpose of swimming in the pool! We had a lot of fun. 🙂

Though we were worried about the sprinklers in the room, a quick fire!

Nearby, a burger joint with a regional specialty done vegan! Yes, Charlie’s Restaurant has a vegan “Garbage Plate”…. kinda just a large pile of food that hurt my belly, I appreciated the option!

Time to tuck ourselves into two Queen beds!
