Ten Things To Do Instead of Shopping:
#8. Begin to see the light.

With my friend in town from Los Angeles, I forced her to go see the Rockefeller Center tree with me. Because it has been many years since I have seen the tree! And Christmas time in New York City, like many have stated, is a magical time. I buy into this Holiday cheer. So yes, this holiday season–embrace it. Turn to the light in all.

The only star in sight. You know–ight pollution.

Crazy light show upon the facade on Saks Fifth Avenue. Also at Saks, thee absolute worst window displays.

There she is!

We went very late, right before the 11:30 pm shut-off of the lights. Because: people. There was many pockets of space in the crowds which made the visit bearable to two introverts.

Me and old trusty

We had the time and space to try to take selfies… and failed tons of times. How do those millenials capture good composition with their selfies?

We got close enough stand under her dress.

Lots of lights on the Norway Spruce.

How lovely are thy branches…

A quick pretzel on the walk back to the car.

And a Korean donut from Grace Street. Because I’m vegan and she’s Korean. So our friendship is like the Korean vegan donut!

And while we are on the Christmas light tip, some from the Charleston area of Staten Island. I know, I know–I said that’s enough of Staten Island for awhile. But this a nice stop at Lights For Life after roller skating a couple of weeks back. In memory of his wife, Joe DiMartino goes all out.

At the time of my visit, Santa had not gotten my present. (Foot tapping…)
