Scenes from a Quarantine, Part 10
July 20, 2020
Despite the continuing of restrictions, I try to get out often and stay busy–but safely. And since my car is not mine anymore, I have been sampling all kinds of mass transit. My favorite: The Ferry. My bike, here, at the Brooklyn Army Terminal when I missed a ferry. And above, back home on a successful ferry ride from the Rockaways, I can see Coney Island. β€οΈ
The Verrazzano. Notice two ‘r’s and two ‘z’s. When the bridge was named, the spelling of his name was changed to be more “American.” Just recently things are being reverted to the actual spelling.

My Indian delivery. Quarantine crush with the delivery guy continues…
I got to Ovenly for my favorite chocolate chip cookies! Long time, no see. Delicious as I remember…
A bowl of things to use up. Meals like this are not cohesive but they serve a purpose.
My gray hairs haven’t been tended to. Do you see them?
Making a windshield cover/recycling thermal envelopes for my Utah trip. π I have been trying to spend these weeks preparing for my needs on the road in the high August temperatures.
Also got a full body mosquito suit for night shoots… and a dry bag for when I attempt to hike the Narrows.
Made banana oatmeal cookies because I was sick of making banana bread with my ripe bananas.
They were all right. I should have chilled the dough for a bit before baking so they didn’t spread so much.
I needed to use up the white bread I made, so tempeh was marinaded and roasted for…
making yummy T.L.T’s.
Look at them layers!
The only blood involved in my making meals is my own. I think my potato peeler might be sharper than all my knives. Seriously though, I put this here to test if you’re a vampire. Are you a vampire?
Continuing to eat the chocolate babka. No wonder I gained so much weight! I gave a loaf to my brother and the rest of this loaf to my parents.
LA LN and I had a fun time trying to take a picture. I recorded it after it was hilarious… which made it no longer be hilarious. But still good for prosperity. (Random Trivia: We worked together at Eminem’s production company in the early 2000’s. There I would select press pictures of him for publications, but mostly order lunch.)
Success!
And she sent me this shirt, because “Karen.”
Long time, no feet done. Well needed, though always uncomfortable for me. Am I the only one who experiences waves of anxiety while getting a pedicure?
In looking for funny old pictures of my sister and I (or is it me in an adverb clause? I’m not sure), I found this picture of me all tan and auburn like I am now. So I made this with my 11 year old self. Oh the things she’ll see!
In summary, I’m still here. For now. Stay tuned for me attempting three nights of camping. Here is my initial familiarization with my friend’s tent. π¬
Stay safe! But still embrace summer. You can do both.
