Polar Bear Plunge Crafting
December 29, 2018

I did the Coney Island New Years Polar Bear Plunge in 2015 and I thought it was a great way to start a new year. So with tentative plans to partake in the tradition again this New Year, I took a boring old halter top bikini top and utilized a bunch of craft materials on it… part motivation, part craft reorganization. I have been crafting more these days to regulate my crafting inventory now that my space is finite.

I started with using a bit more of the iridescent fabric I used for my Barbie and the Rockstars costume. I lined more of the front with the fabric as my first layer of iciness.

Next, the iridescent scales from the mermaid dress I bought last year but didn’t wear. I plan to wear it in 2019’s Mermaid Parade… but only the bottom portion. So I used the white fabric to line the cups of the bikini since the underlying white would help with the light reflection. I also had a bunch of old winter-related goodies from a time I went a little nuts at a after Christmas sale. Craft space clearing!

Steps along the way…

Almost done!

Now, all finished.

A quick trim to the iridescent fabric and it was good to go. I really love crafting bras. I kind of want to do it as a side gig.

Now if only I get rid of this darn cold by New Years day…
