New York City January Outtakes

Well, January is over… and the short but mighty month of February ushers us close to spring like a time machine. Because it’s always gone in a flash. Before we dive in, some outtakes from January 2023’s archive in my three favorite boroughs: Manhattan, Brooklyn, & Staten Island.

Manhattan

On the west side… This is the Maritime Hotel. It’s a pretty boutique hotel that I mostly just admire from the outside.

I picked up some slides from a favorite antique store No Particular Hours while on the west side.

I remember seeing my parents’ slides as I was a kid. And I remember Don Draper naming it the Carousel.

Pretty places

Brooklyn

Bridgeview Diner in Bay Ridge… a perfect old school diner that has no real veggie options.

Berry pancakes at home

Way yummy

A lil bit of snow on my way to the subway

Also by me in Bay Ridge, Townhouse 275. Great potent cocktails with speakeasy vibes. We left tipsy off one cocktail each…

Adventures in Bensonhurst. I love how it looks like old New York

At home I found an old Neutral Milk Hotel iron-on and so I ironed it on almost two decades later!

Staten Island

On a SINY excursion, breakfast a Bloom Cafe. Not a fan of disposable plates at this price point. Plus, I paid for avocado… and no avocado. But it otherwise it hit the spot.

We were testing my new drone in a rando Staten Island park. We crashed it… a lot.

I wanted to photograph the abandoned boats with the drone but the wind was really strong. Our drone skills are not that great… yet.

More drinks with another visit to the area’s only real tiki bar, Jade Island.

Bean curd with broccoli and garlic sauce and veggie fried rice

Our buzzy drinks

Have a happy February!
