New Vegan Eats on Long Island
March 1, 2020

I am happy to report on some new vegan options on Long Island. Starting with Sweet Soul Bakery in St. James, an all-vegan bakery utilizing real and natural ingredient goodness. The result: deliciousness. I tried the vanilla cupcake with chocolate frosting after basking in all the v-vombs.

The cake was light and moist with a high quality balanced sweetness and flavor that was impressive. The frosting was thick and fudgy.

Really good stuff

Later we hit the Patchogue Marketplace at The Better Man Distilling Co.‘s tasting room where an amazing looking all-vegan bakery Peach & Pine Cafe pops up. When we arrived it was a madhouse… and so many of their lovely treats were sold out. I was even more bummed after tasting how good the goodies I was able to purchase were…

The banana bread and thumbprint cookies. Perfection. I am really excited to see such improvements in the vegan baked goods on Long Island!

Lunch in Sayville at Umberto’s, an Italian joint with an all-vegan menu.

I stayed away from the Daiya and ordered their housemade vegan meatballs and spaghetti.

It was really good and a tremendous portion!

Some vegan garlic knots. Sweet nostalgia!

Here’s a drink to vegan growth on the Island! Ok, two breweries on the way back… the jam-packed Blue Point Brewery. Way too crowded to stay for more than a 4 ounce.

Lastly, Barrier Brewery in Oceanside before a long trip on The Belt.
