Mostly The Maben Angel
Green-Wood Cemetery

Sorry but I think the Maben Angel is more attractive than most living women. Is that weird? She’s way fierce. So after I left my apartment within quarantine to get a Covid and antibodies test in advance of maybe returning to school next week, I paid her a visit. Because going to Green-Wood reminds me of why I love my home in Brooklyn, something I need to be reminded of after spending so much time under the vivid stars no longer visible. I brought my 50mm lens which I really enjoy using in cemeteries mostly. Let’s me get good and close–

Ever since I have been coming to Green-Wood, the historic chapel has been under construction. It was nice to see it finally without the scaffolding. But there were still crews about so, just a shot of the adjacent hill of mausoleums and the iconic trolley.

Why have I never seen this before?

Whoa.

Maben Angel. Hello, beautiful.

How is she the Angel of the Resurrection? I don’t see it. Would love to get to Italy to see the original, but I already know I love this sourpuss more. The original seems more contemplative. Maben’s Angel is definitely annoyed.

I think I might slide my arm round the small of her back if I could.

I sat down and tried to sketch her but it was awful!

Onward to the faceless

Gotta go home. Almost as excited as the angel above. It was a nice afternoon in the cemetery–a day without oppressive heat, a day with overcast. Got me excited for Autumn.
