Mid-March Photo Purge & Related Rambling

With this year’s Pi Ο€ Day not falling on a school day, this middle school math teacher was not motivated to make a pie, my least favorite sweet treat to eat. It also took an alarm and early morning door bust to manage to grab one of the last things of all-purpose flour at my local grocery store. But this is the pizza pi I ate last week… from Brooklyn Firefly in Bay Ridge.

I may be 10% in love with my Indian food delivery guy. He has a traditional Imperial handlebar mustache that is pretty fantastic… and he gives me my weekly samosas and Channa Saag. A lady of ritual, I must have my Friday Indian.

My lunch for the last two weeks has been easy but so satisfying: Tofu Lettuce and Tomatoes (or T.L.T.s). I savor every bite like it is a decadent treat. It’s just easy perfection.

And speaking of school, this is the thick of it, the busy chunk of the school year that delivers all right to the state exam… then the winding down towards summer. But perhaps school, my work, won’t be the same as usual going forward. I mean, Parent-Teacher Conferences certainly weren’t. I did them in my pajamas.

So pleased that I unpacked a slew of donated classroom supplies. Hope we can use them… but not by jeopardizing our safety during a declared National Emergency and Global Pandemic.

The same week, a slew of new craft supplies. Though I love that teachers pass their unused craft supplies to me, it is crazy to think that my craft gals are using the same collage paper stock/vintage science texts that I used to make my zines in the 90’s. And they are decorating all the containers from my Indian food delivery!

Though I don’t go to a lot of concerts at my age, I hit Town Hall with The Greek to see Will Oldham as Bonnie Prince Billy. And with tickets secured for several other shows, 2020 is going to be more like the 90’s. If shows don’t get cancelled…

Some social distancing-related pictures. Astro and abandoned (or what annoying millennials call “Bando”) photography are the perfect hobbies during these trying times.

Far from you, as far as I can go

And more food. When I get a ton of apples and carrots from student snack that would otherwise go to waste, I get cooking. Roasting carrots with salt, pepper, Garam Masala and olive oil create a far more delicious snack…

And a compote for my oatmeal from the school apples

So with many grocery stores emptied, I had to make do with a conventional supermarket. But check out how hugely it says “Vegan” on this er, buttery spread! I gave it a try, because I was curious.

But this is definitely my preference in food shopping…

Stay safe out there.
