Lunch: Kind of a Big Deal

I can’t just let some fantastic pickles sit there in the fridge. And since I processed the rest of those over-cooked slow cooker veggies, turning them into veggie burgers, I needed some buns, hun. So after a quick search, this recipe for pretzel buns. Though they didn’t rock my world totally, they’re certainly pretzels.

Hardcore yeast action.

It’s not the length and it’s not the size…

…it’s how many times you can make it rise. (I went there. Stacey’s perverted key chain, when young people used to have 60 key chains expressing their… individuality.) Look at how much this plumped up in an hour. But I think it needed some more time…

Because they only made these nubs after some punching and thumping around

So here is the pretzel part… boiling in a half a cup of baking soda.

I needed to drain them from the baking soda bath better. Some of them were really pretzelly.

So I imagined a super tall burger, the likes of Fogwood & Fig

With my “scratchmade” pretzel buns, patty, pesto and pickle… it was alliteration for lunch! The only thing I didn’t make was the mayo. This was a delicious burger that I devoured sitting on the floor like 5 seconds after taking this picture. It was that good.
