Leaf Peepin’ 🍁 On My Birthday
Camping in Potter County, Pennsylvania

To celebrate my birth so long ago, we headed south to Pennsylvania’s Potter County for a stay in a cabin in the mountains. I chose this location for a few reasons. For one, it is very near to the dark sky park Cherry Springs State Park. In the unlikely event that the sky would clear up during the rainy weekend, I wanted the opportunity to perhaps catch the Orionid meteor shower–which always peaks on my birthday weekend. But there was also abandoned ruins we had reconned over the summer nearby. It is a quick drive, which I cannot take for granted and need to better capitalize on and better stay on top of the forecast.

We stopped for a bathroom break at the ubiquitous Dollar General.

By the time we had some lunch in Coudersport, nightfall was soon to come.

Cabin coffee “hits different”

In the morning, a walk about the amazing color surrounding our cabin

The rain had been steady–but I wasn’t going to ruin anything. Look, it helped make these pretty puddle pictures!

Heavenly paths

Our little cabin. Right after this quick photoshoot, the tempestuous mountain weather gave us some snow (!!!)

The heater in this little cabin was quite powerful!

We did see a few seconds of blue sky. This was it all weekend.

I brought the files I needed to shred, because: multitasking!

The breakfast I had prepped now on the flames…

Tofu scramble

A quart of veggie fried rice later…

My guy baked me a cake… the first cake he ever baked from scratch. We later discovered that the 2-ingredient Elmhurst plant milk I had started using did not have the same chemical reactions as other plant milks. So it had no rise. But it was rich and fudgy and made with love.

Me and my special cake

Breakfast on day 2… stuffed jack-o-lantern peppers

It was a very special weekend. Happy Birthday to me!
