Goodbye Williamsburg, Brooklyn

With just a few days left in Brooklyn, I headed to Williamsburg, Brooklyn–my home of 7 years in the early 2000’s. I severely needed a haircut, yes, but I also wanted to have a few tastes…

Garden Carver would be my first stop. After reading that they called themselves a “vegan butcher” I thought, “Oh, that would be a first for NYC!” But alas, they are nothing of the sort really. They’re a pretty counter spot that serves coffee, a small menu of eats, and packaged vegan sundries.

Not sure if these are made in house, but I would guess not.

Some vegan meats and cheeses in the display.

My sandwich, the barbecue chicken. I asked what the “chicken” was made of and she said “It’s soy-based.” Yeah, so are McDonalds’ burgers. That means packaged, processed food. It was good, though not the best value at just a few bites more than a slider. When did a sandwich with no side become over $17?

Their bathroom is definitely to be admired.

Selfie in the bathroom. With wallpaper like that, how can your not?

With a little time to kill before my haircut, I stopped over at Terms of Endearment for a sweet treat and coffee. They really do some great things here, like this amazing fruit pastry.

Heavenly.

Ready for my cut! Thanks for some final eats, Williamsburg!
