Feel Good Friday

The feeling of a Friday, its salvation, had been lost for awhile–the landmark it had been to the week, the sense of survival and accomplishment imparted to meeting it and the collective bask of joy from fellow soldiers. The crumbs we are doled while oiling a big, unwieldy machine.

Cookies are another such joy–little escapes to our predicament. And so cookies on a Friday are doubly satisfying. And the Best of the Borough‘s chocolate chip cookies at Seven Grams Caffe are the pinnacle of this simple satisfaction. Big, mountainous pillows of ooey-gooey, complex flavor, these cookies lovingly leave chocolate kisses on the corner of your mouth and fingertips… loving you back.

Drooling… the body knows what’s up

Soon, it’s over unfortunately.

While I was in the Flatiron district of Manhattan dropping off a mermaid top to an Etsy buyer, I checked out Veggie Grill. New York City is now acquiring some successful vegan “fast food” chains… ones that began elsewhere, grew successful, started expanding and now can afford to move here. (Other such examples are Next Level Burger and Hip City Veg.) Though I don’t get too excited about reporting on chain eateries, here was my quick meal.

I got the Crispy Buffalo Chickin’ Sandwich–a chickin’ patty (not housemade) topped with creamy ranch, buffalo sauce, lettuce, tomato and pickles on a brioche bun, with fries. Great for an easy craving.

And it was back to my favorite Friday destination. My couch!
