Checking In On Tula Kitchen
Bay Shore, Long Island

Was shocking to see, as I consulted my archives, that I had first visited Tula Kitchen 10 years ago. This eclectic fine dining eatery in Bay Shore, Long Island has long acknowledged the value of offering a variety of veggie dishes, allowing vegans and their omnivorous friends the chance to dine together with ease. Add a thoughtful and seasonally inspired cocktail menu, and you’ve got a perfect date spot or the perfect spot to catch up with an old friend.

Inviting a splurge, our stuffed avocado appetizer: caramelized onions, sauteed spinach, organic quinoa, and a lemon vinaigrette

I want the avocado to be my convenient vessel in other areas of my daily life.

My dish, The BBQ SeitanΒ with roasted broccoli, cauliflower & mushrooms over cauliflower mash. Tasty but the sauce needed to be cooked longer and thickened up. And a housemade seitan would elevate the dish tremendously. My friend got the Lentil Loaf, pictured above, with a tomato glazed loaf of lentils, kale, mushroom, carrots & oats on spicy brown onion gravy and a cauliflower mash, topped with an arugula & spinach salad with lemon vinaigrette. I should have got that!

Beautiful cocktails

My cocktail on the right. The You Betcha MelonsΒ Watermelon vodka martini made with fresh watermelon juice & basil. So delicious and summery. I was forced to drink two and that is all I needed!

And a try at a selfie, though it looks like my stand-in showed up for the picture. Does this ever happen to you?

So glad Tula Kitchen is continuing to thrive… even within the current health pandemic. Support your local eateries that share your values!
