🌟 International Dark Sky Park #10

The Great Starry Way continues with my dark sky park number 10, Bryce Canyon National Park. Much like Cedar Breaks the previous night, this park also boasts a high altitude and pure deep, unadulterated darkness. Though I was skeptical that a sky could come close to last night’s, Bryce Canyon knocked my socks off. There is just no beating the skies in Utah. I am now a believer.

Spending the day in Bryce was helpful. I saw these eerie dead trees laying about that I wanted to use in my shoot. But first I headed over to Natural Bridge to see if I could shoot the stars through the arch. Turns out I wasn’t the only one with this idea. A young man was there when I arrived trying his hand at getting star trails. But I stayed a little bit because the Milky Way was just too gorgeous…

Next I went to try to play around with the dead trees. I was on my own at this spot which is my preference. Things get weird when the shutter opens. Truth is that shooting the night skies gets me giddy.

And the light painting started because some small clouds were messing up the sky’s clarity. But who can complain? I’ve decided I need to move where there are dark skies. I make all my best decisions on the road.

Back to my cabin right outside of the park. Tomorrow’s night shoot is one I am really looking forward to. Actually, the shoots from tomorrow and onward offer exciting foreground options, unlike the plunging amphitheaters of the past few days.
