Vegan Night 2019

Vegan food, Coney Island, fireworks and old friends? This is a recipe for summer fun! I am happy to attend year two of Brooklyn Cyclones Vegan Night. Actually their season is bookended with two, that’s right, two Vegan Nights. But with Marty V‘s being in the stadium for the entire season, I don’t know if I need to make the second Vegan Night, unless I am setting up my own table showing these folks how proper vegan baked goods are done. To follow are the highlights and some storm porn as we were caught in a short but powerful bout of thunderstorms.

Marty’s!

Ugh, I hate when I forget to hold the vegan cheese.

Baseball Bruce got the other burger with the mushrooms and barbecue sauce.

We settled in and the storm clouds arrived. Wind gust littered the sky with debris and a whole bunch of sand, which smacked me in the face. We were advised to find shelter when the onslaught of fat rain drops began.

Don’t be afraid of these thunderclouds…

Our shelter was the women’s bathroom. Quite an intriguing spot for my two male friends to be. Here is Max drying himself with the hand dryer.

We’re in the ladies room selfie!

Eventually the rain diminished and I got excited to find the rainbow I knew would appear. But first, a vegan “pride” brownie.

The rainbow, or should I say, rainbows appear!

How glorious are rainbows?!

The game ended with more fun in the sky, my summer’s first fireworks. The Cyclones fireworks are never as exciting as Coney Island’s Friday fireworks but they’ll do.

Now it’s official… that summer school is starting. 🀭
