Blessed Are the Vegan Sandwich Makers
Corned Beef, Part 1: Mrs. Goldfarb’s Unreal Deli
🌈☘️

There are certain vegan option discoveries that get escorted to the front of the line. The line being my really long list of spots to try in all the five boroughs. Such was the case on March 16, as I searched vegan Reuben options to eat in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. After taking a look at this Grub Street article, I knew I’d embark upon an after work trek to Manhattan to hit an authentic New York City Jewish deli, Sarge’s Delicatessen, to get their vegan Reuben featuring Mrs. Goldfarb’s Unreal Deli fine vegan meats.

I didn’t care that they were out of vegan cheese, that they had yet to make a vegan version of their Russian dressing… or that it didn’t even have sauerkraut! Sinking my teeth into this tall pile of vegan Corn’d Beef was a heavenly experience that tapped into a cuisine that had long been vacant of satisfying vegan choices beyond a (utterly delicious) knish.

The soft Rye bread was yummy, though I will need to try these deli meats at an all-vegan spot for all the trimmings and a nice oily, toasted bread! Next Level Burger has an offering that contains Mrs. Goldfarb’s Unreal Deli meats: The Thicc Boi Burger has the Corn’d Beef with melted smoked gouda, special sauce, pickles and tomatoesβ€”all-vegan and stacked on aΒ Beyond patty. I would get it WITHOUT the Beyond patty, because I have good taste. Ok, back to this sandwich. Let’s look some more!

This meat was very tasty with a pleasing texture–not dense, not too chewy and not too dry even though I was eating it with just a simple smear of deli mustard. I was very impressed.

Now vegans can eat deli sandwiches with 2 inches of protein. No harm done! What a wonderful time to be a vegan… and a vegan blogger.

When Irish eyes are smiling! And my Irish sweater. Notice the mermaid mess my apartment is. It will be this way until May.

When Irish eyes (all three of them) are smiling, part 2 as I played with my colleagues Snapchat filters.

Happy St. Patricks Day! And happy Day 1 of my trying to get vegan corned beef sandwiches.
