A Day on Long Island

Southdown Coffee in Glen Cove was the start of a day inside Long Island’s wonders. This cute coffee shop chain does things right. This is the Granita topped with dreamy coconut whip.

Avocado Toast that was absolute perfection.

The delicious Chickpea Salad Sandwich: Sourdough bread with arugula, alfalfa sprouts, roasted tomatoes and their house-made chickpea salad. Crisp, fresh and packed with flavor.

A salted chocolate chocolate chip cookie. Try to say that without salivating.

At Muttontown Preserve searching for King Zog’s ruins again… I was thwarted last visit. And we were thwarted again this visit. I vow to find it before I leave NYC! But the hike was very beautiful nonetheless. So much lush green.

Great place for birders too

The wall that I’ve found before… boring!

Now at Robert Moses to try to see the shipwrecked remains of The Bessie White. No luck in that department either; the Ranger said it isn’t really accessible. But a trip to the beach is always a good idea. Plus they had amazing shells that I tried not to take so many of… because, packing.

There was a fog hanging over the beach, which made for pretty low visibility. We couldn’t even see the lighthouse from down the shore.

Some ship that was wrecked, but not the one we were lookin for.

Finally, sustenance at Green Street Eatery in Levittown. This was the Bacon Ranch Fries… a bit too salty but still very satisfying after hiking.

The very sweet blueberry lemonade. Oh our poor delicate palates.

My tacos did my tastebuds in… I got the Yum Yum, the Plantain, and the Vietnamese.

An exhausting but wonderful day on the Island.
