5 Borough Caribbean Vegan Report
Ital Kitchen, Ital in Crown Heights

Exploring more vegan Caribbean offerings, I made it back to Crown Heights for the mostly vegan Ital Kitchen.

Before my eats, the Tumerical Tings–a pressed juice packed with turmeric, lemon, ginger, and, thankfully not a lot of apples. I like my juice to kick me in the arse.

And my eats, the Ital Veggie Jerk Chicken–with crumbled seitan chunks and zucchini in a delicious “taste of the island” jerk sauce. Great spice with heavenly chards of fresh ginger, the dish was definitely scrumptious. I’d criticize the value but it really will be two meals for me.

There’s plenty of vegan dishes to return for too, including Noxtails made of portobello mushrooms.. I wanted to put them up against Bad Gyal Vegan‘s Voxtails but she’s left Bed-Stuy and is now based in Atlanta! Hmm, who else has vegan oxtails? I will find out as I further explore New York City’s Caribbean options. Next I’ll be in a brand new spot on the other side of Brooklyn…
