2019 Vegan Yankees Stadium Update ๐ธ
May 29, 2019
I got the chance to head to Yankees Stadium with some of my students today! So of course I took advantage of the opportunity share this vegan update for the 2019 season. Things have gotten a bit… sloppier, as below indicates.
Bareburger at Field Level Concourse near Section 132.
Sure, sure, it’s Yankees Stadium. Everything costs an arm and a leg. But Bareburger is unbelievably expensive—all its locations! Especially considering that none of their burgers comes with anything… you know, like French Fries. And they’ve got unclear markings on their menu without asterisks or explanations. So for clarity: They mark items that are veganizable as vegan while also marking items “V” that are vegan without modifications. (Example: Guadalupe is vegan on its own. ChangeUp requires modifications to be vegan, though they have the same marking.) So you’ll have to make the appropriate modifications to ensure the items are vegan. But gosh, those prices.
The Beyond Sausage from the bleachers. “Aren’t you vegan?” a student asked.
The new for 2019 Avocado Bites, vegan without the dipping sauce. Also very expensive. They were good, but tasted cheap. Like a breaded chicken cutlet coating you’d get at a third rate concession stand at like a Flea Market. It killed the avocado.
But still, it is nice to have something to eat besides French Fries.
Melissa’s Farmers Market at Field Level near Section 121B.
Mike & Ike at the Melissa’s Farmers Market? Yeah, that makes sense. They really should get better options here. They should take a hint from airports who now sell tons of health-friendly packaged snacks at their convenience shops.
I know you were checking out that fruit up there, dear vegan. Yes, it’s the best deal in the park for $6.49. They had more pilafs and salads here last season, but I have to consider that this was a weekday day game in May.
Along with this value is the Bronx Brewery IPA No Resolutions, which I couldn’t partake in this time.
Cauliflower Bao at Main/Bleachers Level Toyota Terrace
This Bao is like my White Whale. I can never seem to get it. Today I waited on the bar line to order the Buffalo Cauliflower Bao, no blue cheese, no slaw. And I ordered it… and the cashier understood that I only wanted the cauliflower in the bun. Then she went to the food preppers and returned with the news that the cauliflower wasn’t made yet. Ugh!! Next time I am not leaving The Stadium until I get this.
Field Roast Frankfurters at Field Level near Section 115 and Main/Bleachers Level near Section 205.
First let me mention that “Field Roast” wasn’t listed anywhere on the menu board at the King’s Hawaiian Grill outside Section 115 though the 2019 Dining Guide lists this location with available Field Roast burgers and hot dogs. Second let me mention that the veggie burgers were no listed at all! C’mon, let’s not go backwards here.
Other Vegan Things & NOT Vegan Things
Though this cup seems all plant-based…
…I am going to assume that both of the noodle bowls at the Pepsi Food Court use an animal broth. But I will inquire with them specifically next time.
No veggie sushi was available at the time of my visit. Only seaweed salad and edamame.
Johnny Rockets on the Main/Bleachers menu has no vegan options (besides French Fries? Though I am not even sure on that as Dining Guide doesn’t list French Fries. w.t.h.?) though they have a Gardein black bean burger at their restaurants.
You can get Lay’s Classic potato chips throughout the ballpark. They’re vegan.
There are some Tostitos Nachos How You Want stands in the ballpark. Tell them to omit the cheese. And maybe bring a ziploc of your own vegan nacho cheese. That’d be satisfying.
Original cinnamon churros, sold at the lemonade stands, are vegan.
We out, Yankee Stadium!
