2019 Vegan Citi Field Report โšพ ๐ŸŒญ ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ
Another Star Wars Day

A bit late, but it’s my first New York Mets game of the season! I am proud to say that my blog is the top Google result for “vegan Citi Field.” [And I am the 4th result for “vegan yankees stadium” too! And 8th result for “vegan Brooklyn Cyclones” while we are at it.] So I am now under obligation to continue thorough reporting of New York area baseball stadiums. So let’s get to it. There are some new additions for 2019, in accordance with the general growth of vegan options near and far, as well as some updates on options from 2018. Here’s my report on a perfect day for a ball game–and a Star Wars Day, commemorating the release date of Star Wars. But first, I take a swing at Shea Stadium’s old home plate… which is in the parking lot.

What’s new Citi?

Dole Whip at Field Level Concourse near Section 121.

How wonderful that vegans can now have a frozen soft serve treat while they’re hot in the Citi. Dole Whip is basically a whole bunch of stabilizers…. but they are pretty delicious. You can get this pineapple soft serve in a cup, as a float or in a souvenir hat or home run apple. We opted for the float.

Beware of brain freeze.

Martyโ€™s V Burger at Field Level Concourse, Section 104 outside Worlds Fare Market.

All new for 2019, an all-vegan concession! Marty’s V Burger is one of my favorite burgers in New York City… and now they’ve got a stand in Citi Field. I was so excited to try their renditions of Beyond Meat. And I was so happy not to have to worry about unvegan buns. Besides two types of burgers, Marty also has a Beyond Bratwurst and a Kale salad.

Me and Marty! I was delighted to hear he is a reader of my blog! We’re just vegan celebrities. No biggie. ๐Ÿ˜† I first posted about Marty’s in 2014. That seems like decades ago–especially in the realm of vegan growth.

The Bratwurst that Bruce was dressing at the fixin’s bar. He loved it; I didn’t get to try it as I was devouring my…

Marty’s Original World Famous Burger… with Violife melted cheddar, lettuce and pickles.

Such a delicious accompaniment to a trip to the baseball stadium on a gorgeous day. I can’t believe how vegan friendly the world is becoming.

Jim Beam Highball Club on the Promenade Level

Some diverse vegan options are up in the Jim Bean Highball Club, which is only accessible with certain ticket types: Churros at Dulcinea and Edamame dumplings at Destination Dumplings.

Wasn’t sure about any of the sauces’ vegan status, so I skipped them.

Ah, the V-word!

These were really good!

How cool to see these guys from Vegans of Queens, who had a meet-up that included a tailgate in the parking lot beforehand! Pretty bummed I missed that. The vegan community is growing so fast. As I snapped these pictures passing onlookers were swooning about their shirts.

Update on Last Season’s Options

Two Boots Pizza is GONE! As is their V For Vegan slice. ๐Ÿ˜”

El Verano Taqueria at Field Level Concourse, Section 139 has veganizable items including nachos and a salad, though I didn’t partake this time.

Yves Veggie Dogs and unbranded Veggie Burgers are still about, though the buns are not vegan last I inquired. B.Y.O.Buns.

Worldโ€™s Fare Market, Section 104 still has Garden of Eatinโ€™ blue tortillas with pic de gallo and guacamole, BluePrint juices and veggie sushi and edamame at Daruma of Tokoyo.

Fruit flavored Italian Ices from Papa Rosso are vegan. And there are also Marino’s Italian Ices about, a childhood favorite!

Goya Burrito Bar at Section 414 might be able to veganize something, but I didn’t want to wait in line to ask.

Bash Burger, Nathan’s, and Box Frites have French fries. But you could have figured that out. Although, I still have no idea about whether or not Bash Burgers’ fries are vegan. Anyone know?

STAR WARS!

You know how you have certain friends that you only do certain things with? Bruce and I go to baseball games mostly. In fact, we were at Yankees Stadium last year for their Star Wars Day! So besides getting yet another Star Wars bobblehead, we got to see a bunch of Star Wars characters.

The Tusken Raider was my favorite.

I made him lift his arms up and yell.

When we were walking with them and trying to take pictures. We are not milliennials; we are not so good at this.

The rebel pilot is amused.

Dorks R Us.

Thank you, Citi… for Star Wars, cool vegan people, and delicious vegan food. I’ll be back!
