π Happy New Year to Me
Onion Maiden in Pittsburgh
October 21, 2020

This vegan stops at all eateries that use musical band puns! And before I settled in after a long day of driving, eating and adventure, it was one more–a drive to Onion Maiden for a final meal.

Knowing you only get one meal at a place makes decisions pretty tough. Thankfully the counter guy had patience and recommendations. I wanted to eat everything on their menu. In the end, I chose a dog and tots. Here I am a bite into my Trooper Dog, with cashew cheese and lentil chili. Oh yeah, it was good.

The General Ngo’s Tots. Asian fusion-y tater tots with a cabbage slaw, Sichuan peppercorn, soy caramel, bean sprouts and cilantro. So good but boy take-out really can kill texture. I miss in-person dining, being served and the presentation of food.

It kills this food blogger to not have three stomaches when I roll into a city with so many vegan eats… I know I will be back and for longer. Goodnight, Pittsburgh.
