Your Own Break
Florida in the Spring

Going to Florida on Spring break doesn’t have to mean packing on the beach with a bunch of partying yutes. In fact, I can’t think of anything more annoying than that. The state, and its beaches, has so much to offer–tranquil, isolated, beautiful experiences far from the crowds of college students. To follow, some beachy beauty from two stops: Canaveral National Seashore and Blowing Rocks Preserve on Jupiter Island.

File under the ever-growing list of things I love about Florida: pods of pelican who glided through the blue sky

So happy to be at a beach, the first of the season, on Blyth Beach–part of the Canaveral National Seashore. Freckles on my chest to show you just how much I have loved the beach in my life.

It would be time for some shelling, stocking my slowly dwindling piles at home. More mermaid tops await…

No partyers here.

To follow, the amazing Blowing Rocks Preserve and its stunning Anastasia limestone outcropping. This gorgeous and texturous addition to the smooth sand made me take a ton of pictures. Note to self for next time, bring water shoes.

We filed this location away for a future mermaid shoot.

Looking for Andromeda chained to the rock. Hmm, another photoshoot?

Now I am in a limestone cave

looking out.

More pelicans

My fantastic shell haul I need to box up and send to myself.

Spring is officially broke.
