Winter in Fall
A Day in Patchogue, Long Island

A brief jaunt in East Patchogue, Long Island would have food, fun and photographs. To follow, some highlights of the area… if you happen to like vegan food, nature and cemeteries like me.

Door dashed my breakfast because who the heck wants to get dressed and jump in the car before eating their vegan Coconut Multi-Grain French Toast, coconut milk & vanilla dipped toast topped with mangos, bananas and coconut shreds. This is from Toast Coffeehouse which also has a tofu scramble I reported on quite some time ago.

This was really delicious.

And very seedy.

We spied a Great Blue Heron at the nearby Swan River Preserve. Gorgeous. Bird watchers are so adorable. I mean serious–have you ever met a bird watcher that was an a@#hole? I don’t think it’s possible.

The wind in the willows

Wintery branches pierce the grey sky

But we still explore the foliage.

Some vegan sweets from the Whole Foods nearby. Uncle Eddie’s have been my favorite packaged vegan cookies for many years. I am so glad they are still available. This is the best variety–chocolate chip with walnuts. These Rubicon Bakers vanilla cupcakes were pretty tasteless. Not a trace of vanilla flavor! Also they were filled with same buttercream that was on the top. Cupcake blasphemy!

Dinner at That Meetball Place in Patchogue’s downtown. I appreciate the vegan denotation. There was also a special with Beyond meatballs on top of zucchini noodles. I went for the special and asked the waitress to split the balls–half Beyond, half Vegetable Balls. I wanted to try both!

But I should have known.. the Beyond meatballs were disgusting. Like how I imagine dog food tastes. Their house made lentil-based Vegetable balls were so much better in texture and taste.

Food regret–but now I know.

Knuckles in a rare calm moment.

I saw this old cemetery on the way to getting my morning coconut milk latte. Of course I had to stop. Lakeview Cemetery is rumored to be haunted, though I didn’t know it while we were exploring. With graves dating back to the 1700’s, it was certainly “up my alley.”

The most ornate monument with depictions of Charity, Faith, Hope and Liberty.

Need to start doing grave rubbings…

I’d be a restless spirit too if a PVC fence was put on my final resting space.

Watching over the geese

We brought items from home we needed to use up… cooking up spaghetti squash, Field Roast sausage, garlic bread…

Last breakfast at Nole CafΓ©. My Pipeline Pitaya Bowl with their organic blend dragon fruit, mango, pineapple, banana, strawberry, granola, coconut and agave syrup and my friend’s Local One with their organic blend of acai root, banana, almond milk, strawberries, blueberries, granola, and coconut.
