Vortex Doughnuts, Asheville, NC

These doughnuts… they might be the best I’ve ever had.  I know, I know, that’s a bold statement.  But here is a bunch of random reasons why sparked by their images.  

The flavors!  A wet mango glaze with Tajin seasoning?!  My tastebuds rejoice.  

Cheerwine, which I had never heard of but apparently is a regional cherry soda… with the most airy cream made from lentils.  

The base–light, airy, perfectly fried and not too oily. That is the description of a perfect donut.

I’d love to try more flavors! And since I may return for another overnight soon, I’d be able to.
