Vegan Treasures of Manhattan Island
Lily’s Vegan Pantry in Chinatown

Want a vegan lobster? πŸ¦žπŸ˜‚

While it may not be my cup of tea, Lily’s Vegan Pantry in Chinatown, formerly the May Wah Vegetarian Market, is the all-vegan shop stocked with that soy science meat. The store’s new name has all the the O.G. processed meat analogs you’ve known since the early 2000’s, lest you think the Impossible and Beyond concepts are original. I still recall being amazed by its texture when I used to frequent Red Bamboo. Chicken, beef, ham, shrimp, lobster, spare ribs, shark, egg, tuna… and those ubiquitous chicken wings that are all over the place. It was a vegan trailblazer.

Besides stocked freezers, the shop has tons of other goodies for your vegan cooking endeavors.

TVP! I told you it was OG.

Mock (yeah) Meat (yeah) … mock, mock meat 🎡

I get a kick out of these vegan seafoods.

Go support the OG of vegan mock meats!

Oh and don’t be fooled by this eatery a few yards away. May Wah Fast Food is not vegan.

That’s the end of my Manhattan treasure hunt! Tomorrow, another island: Staten. Thanks, New York City.
