Vegan Pancakes at J’s On the Bay
Rosebank, Staten Island
May 19, 2023

After calling in, I decided I’d hit up my neighbor Staten Island to check out this spot I spied from Google Maps. Ah, it looked just gorgeous…

Alas, this was a total bust as the property was under surveillance and surrounded by high fences. It was party of the port and so, I could not tip-toe in to explore.
But I would still make the visit worth my while… first with vegan pancakes. As I waited for the restaurant to open (damn un-updated Google intel), the view across the Narrows.

And here I am door-busting J’s On the Bay for their vegan hot cakes. Why is Rosebank so vegan friendly?! I don’t know but I’ll take it. This is the Banana Walnut Pancakes, soft sour dough-y cakes topped with a bittersweet chocolate drizzle and caramelized bananas.

They were so delicious and not overly sweet. I would love to try their other varieties.

Look at that cross-section. Thank you so much, J’s On the Bay! For amazing vegan options that are clearly labeled on the menu… and the almond milk for my coffee.
