Upstairs and Down the Hall at
New York Farm Colony, Staten Island

I was overwhelmed with the want to easily explore… as it had been quite some time. I squeezed a trip to Staten Island’s New York Farm Colony on my day off, pushing all other tasks aside for the day. But first a couple of buses. Taking the bus to Staten Island makes me feel like I am visiting a different country. And I like that!

A sunny day for my excursion…

One of my goals is to get upstairs in this building, however the staircases are very dangerous. I keep checking anyway as explorers move debris to create makeshift planks upward on completely decayed steps.

The safest “staircase” up is neither safe nor a staircase.

This door is always open at a perfect angle to let in a beautiful mass of light. And I always have to take a picture of it.

I wandered to the boundary of the fenced property and found some machine rooms I had never been in before.

Perfect light!

This three story structure is a total mess, but offers a view to the bright sky. The roof and many of the floors are all gone.

Up on the 3rd floor…

Looking down at the mess

The elevator shaft was wide open

So texturous

Watch to the end to see some vultures.

The green house is very striking, but I have also taken a similar picture multiple times.

Now a series of looking at rows of many dormitories

Another amazingly disheveled staircase

On the roof

A great quick trip to New York Farm Colony! That will hold me over for just a little bit…
