Tonopah, Nevada Attractions, Part 1
The Clown Motel & the Cemetery Next Door

I have to show you this clown motel, aptly named The Clown Motel.   Tonoapahโ€™s most popular attraction imparts a layer of color, terror and creepiness to the desert landscape, more so when you consider it sits right next to the Old Tonopah Cemetery.  And both are rumored to be haunted–as if the clown-theme doesnโ€™t attract enough weirdos. This town is the kind of stop I love on a road trip, file under “What the…?”

The Old Tonopah Cemetery contains many fascinating headstones marking the memorial of some of Tonopah’s history. The headstones can second as folk art, each unique and rustic–carved, etched, metalcraft, rock…

Many of the interred lost their lives in a mine fire in the early 1900’s.

Kate Miller fascinated me. She died of a morphine overdose.

“Lest We Forget”

There were stuffed animals at most of the children’s gaves.

These two attractions of Tonopah were fascinating … but there’s some more neat things to come!
