Established in 1972 as New York City’s self-proclaimed First vegetarian restaurant, The Smile of the Beyond in Queens, New York was then owned and operated by the followers of spiritual teacher, poet and philosopher Sri Chinmoy. And it still is. I stopped by to check out their vegan offerings as it was on the way of errands.
I got the Popeye Omelet… vegan egg, spinach, vegan ham, vegan cheese…
It totally hit the spot.
Lots of great vegan dishes in a unique atmosphere, I hope to return and try more.
