The Eagles of Manchester

While in Connecticut for that ice cream I loved so dearly, I mapped out another photo opportunity as I like to do. Abandoned stuff… I would have to head to Northwest Park to access a trail to some ruins… As it turned out, I had a bit of a detour.

Firstly, I’d like to say that I really procrastinated leaving Brooklyn this day. And with heavy traffic to my first stop to Secret Vegan Kitchen and then even heavier traffic heading north through The Bronx to get to Connecticut, I thought my timing for the day was not ideal. But it turns out I was just where I needed to be.

You see, while on this pretty path to the abandoned structure (next post) I encountered a woman pointing her camera to the trees. She told me she had eyes on an eagle! After I finally was able to see it with her friend’s binoculars, I hurried back to my car to get my telephoto lens. We became fast friends as a whole other photo expedition took over!

And I had on my memory card many images of this spectacular eagle dad and then later an eagle mom. What a wonderful encounter in many ways, seemingly predetermined.

Focusing from far away is really difficult with my 300mm lens, but I managed to get several great shots of the eagles. This guy was waiting for his lady to return.

The tongue

How beautiful is he?

Now he is calling for his lady…

And then she returns!

The shots with both of them in it got me thinking… then I made this LOL.

Not to overlooked, this guy was pretty darn cool too.

What a magical afternoon!
