The Bridges of Frederick County, Maryland

Autumn is a beautiful time to go see covered bridges. So flying my guy to town, we made a day of it because this would be the first of a series of days where I would hold the cards… the birthday cards! Yes, it is birthday week and so I make a big to-do as I always do. I love that my birthday falls in the… Fall and so foliage is always high on my list of things to do around this time. We hit 3 of them in a relatively close proximity…

Utica Covered Bridge

This was pretty but too kempt and manicured since it was surrounded by a private residence

Roddy Road Covered Bridge

I enjoyed this one’s park setting and rocky stream. There were a bunch of folks here, too. People who go to see covered bridges have good stock, I’d remark. I am always making sweeping generalizations of good. These things matter–what you fill your free time with! Video games, your phone, dumb television shows… meh! I subscribe to Maude-ism… as in Harold & Maude.

Loved the water’s reflection here

Loys Station Covered Bridge

The last one, also nice as covered bridges go but people were really barreling through it in their autos most of the time while we were there. Like full speed! Be careful if you are taking pics on the other side. Another plus with this one is you can walk underneath it entirely. We did this and tried to figure out what fish were swimming in the water. Oh, I do value curiosity in a mate and not the presumption of knowing all …which is always an indicator of the opposite.

Weren’t those pretty? There were more so perhaps another mission.
