Strong Hearts Cafe
Syracuse, New York

The last time I was at Strong Hearts Cafe was 12 years ago. But with an errand in Syracuse, I made day of seeing the area’s offerings! That means a vegan meal at this old school vegan gem.

I was very impressed with their new space–service, space and ambiance are definitely as tasty as the food. For lunch, a barbecue fried chicken sandwich and some greens. I’ll start by showing you its bun… it was perfection. The bun is such an important part of a vegan sandwich! This one was airy and chewy and held up to the moisture level of garnishes and the crag of the fried chicken patty.

It was really yummy, though I wished it was tofu based and not the more processed cutlet-y thing.

I brought back dessert to share with the kiddos.

All of the cupcakes were spectacular. Strong Hearts Cafe‘s cupcake game is strong!

The Fauxstess (above) and the strawberry wafer and cookie monster below were all devoured happily.

The cookie monster was a favorite

Yummy strawberry.. I think via an extract, but it was a high quality one

Pretty on the inside

So I loved my visit to Strong Hearts Cafe so much that I returned for breakfast as I headed back to Brooklyn. I got the Egg Trick Muffin: fried seasoned tofu eggy patty, tempeh bacon, and melted mozzarella cheese on a butter toasted english muffin along with a really creamy potato salad

It was just what I needed for the ride back, though a bit small for the price.

And more cupcakes to try! This was cherry almond and creamsicle… as good as it gets again.

This place will definitely stay on my list!
