Staten Island Water Tower

After some errands in New Jersey, by way of Staten Island, I did what I usually do when I have to come through. I hit Pastosa in Eltingville for vegan ravioli and I found something to take pictures of.

I had put this water tower on my list of things to find and explore a little bit ago after catching a glimpse of it in passing. It was relatively easy to locate again… at least in the winter… surrounded by barren trees off Forest Hill Road near Willowbrook. It is now the property of the Office for People With Developmental Disabilities. After a quick sprint into the woods, it was before me. And now I want to find other water towers on the borough.

Its weather-worn shade

Notice the ladder. Years ago folks used it to go all the way up there.

But now the ladder parts once accessible lay prostrate on the floor

A fence attempts to stop you, but there are holes

Also in the woods, I found this skull

What is this pattern on the skull???

In its glory…

Many years of paint

Inside, a yucky moat of debris

Thanks, Staten Island, for always a toll well spent.
