Sandia’s Crest ⛰️

I don’t mind climbing to the top of a mountain… in a car. And that is where Sandia National Scenic Byway takes you… the Sandia Crest at an altitude of over 10,000. Just a short drive from Albuquerque, New Mexico, the drive offers a view of the entire area. Fun delicious fact, “sandia” is watermelon in Spanish, named for the pretty pinkish hue the mountains glow during sunset. I did not witness the watermelon as the altitude (and heat) of the high desert was getting to me a bit and I found myself heading East after a quick lunch back in Albuquerque. More on food soon, I promise Vegan Victuals reader.
