Spring Break Decay-tion
Off Route 66, Part 6
Tucumcari, New Mexico
Shell Truck Plaza

I could have stayed at this site for hours.. with a gas station, food mart, truck repair shop and large restaurant (named “Restaurant”) to peruse, it had a little something for everyone–and, though stripped and ransacked, not a ton of vandalism. It used to be Shell Truck Plaza along Route 66. Now it is a collapsing Shell Truck Plaza along Route 66…

Pumps look modern. According to a my internet searching the earliest evidence of it being abandoned is 2010.

At the convenience store now…

Some great shots in here…

Salt-n-Pepa’s here

The truck repair shop. And the S in Shell

Getting under the carriage

These are some of the old gas pumps

Now, the Restaurant

Very easy access…

…though quite dark. These shots had a high ISO and exposure compensation happening.

The iPhone low light camera did pretty well

Salad bar

I’m not sure if perhaps this place had a pool or rooms, but this big room was attached to the restaurant.

A phone bank! So cool…

A glorious explore in an area brimming with great decay. This is why it’s a Decay-tion!
