Real Veg Dim Sum in Brooklyn! 🥟 🥢
September 15, 2019

I have friends of all ages. But I find it amusing that an older friend pressured me to download and often utilizes her personal emoji, Bitmoji, in her text messages. Like a lot. So I made one mostly for her amusement. But now I’m hooked on utilizing it when appropriate. Like we went for dim sum at Brooklyn’s Bodai Vegetarian Restaurant. Because this is how I feel about dim sum.

Did you know that Bodai has a location in Brooklyn now? I am asking because I had no idea the famous Flushing veg spot opened another all-veg eatery real close to me! It’s a pain to go to Flushing or Manhattan’s Chinatown, which is where I was convinced the only real good vegetarian dim sum options were. So this is a delightful discovery.

Plus the service is so pleasant, though the neighborhood is very bustling on a Sunday. They were highly amused about our ordering 6 plates. But we really brought our appetites!
The BBQ “Meat” (seitan)

Sticky Rice balls with black sesame paste.

So good. I love all vessels for bean paste.

Turnip cakes… another dim sum favorite

And the must plate at dim sum—Bun. We got the “meat”…

…and vegetable buns.

Dumplings were my least favorite, which shows you just how much I enjoy the other dishes.

A great meal to anchor Sunday downtime. See you again soon, Bodai. Dim sum two miles away is dangerous!
