Ras Plant Based πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Ή
Vegan Farm to Table Ethiopian in Crown Heights

I’m backed up with vegan spots to check out in Brooklyn. So a Friday treat to catch up with a teacher friend at Ras Plant Based, an all-vegan Ethiopian restaurant in Crown Heights. Because no one but another teacher can understand the ridiculous dysfunction we are expected to operate within this school year and how it erodes all of which brought us into the profession to begin with. With a mocktail toast, we commiserated.

My Piassa platter, the milder of the two platters they offer named after Ethiopia’s old town: Yater Kik, Missir Alicha, squash, Potato wat, Ksir Alicha… though I don’t think in that order on the plate

The colors are so inviting. And so delicious. The only pile I wasn’t into was the squash.

And I just love to eat with my hands, aided my Injera roll

The best part is eating the Injera underneath, saturated with color and flavor.

The Sambusa small plate–flaky pastry shells with a delicious brown lentil filling.

I want 5 of these on a plate right now as I type this.

Non-traditional raw dessert offerings… They’re from Rawsome Treats, a pretty spectacular raw bakery on the Lower East Side I’ve frequented. I got the Coconut Leche–creamy and heavenly perfection

Let’s look again at those layers. Oh diving soaked nut…

The Peanut Butter Cup, also delicious

A really good end to a trying week. . . the first full in-person work week since March. Thank you Ras Plant Based for your delicious means of balancing the rough with lentils, color and flavor. Keep those V-bombs coming, Brooklyn!
