(Queens, Brooklyn & The) Bronx
March 10, 2018
From a half breakfast in Ridgewood, Queens to a half breakfast in Bed-Sty, Brooklyn (a mile away from each other), we headed to Port Morris, Bronx for The Bronx Brewery Tasting Room… but also to stalk Sol Cacao and their chocolate tasting room soon to be opening nearby.
Breakfast halfsies: The B2 (housemade tempeh, cashew cheese, and avocado) at Trans Am Cafe and The Breakfast Sandwich (Burmese tofu scramble, heirloom tomato, avocado, hollandaise on grilled sourdough) at Toad Style.
The Bronx Brewery tasting menu. My favorite also has the best name (and really high alcohol percentage: 10.1%): Now Youse Can’t Leave IPA.
Requisite picture of brewery machinery and Strange Brew references.
Can can
After we were nice and cheeky, authentic Mexican with vegan options: a rarity and a glorious thing. And just a few minutes away…
Love clearly labeled menu options.
A Blanco Mole made of blended pine nuts and other deliciousness enrobing a vegetable enchilada with rice and beans.
This was sooo good. It was “mild” but it made my nose run.
Tlacoyo, corn cakes topped with avocado cactus salad on a beautiful piece of pottery. Look at that blanco mole in the background.
Potato flautas. Who wouldn’t love deep-fried potato in tortilla?
So great to have delicious vegan options in The Bronx. I’ll be back again for some chocolate.
