Prettiest Day Ever 🌺: New York Botanical Garden & Supernatural Pop-up

I have this thing for dressing on theme. So as I get dressed for a beautiful Sunday at New York Botanical Garden‘s Orchid Show, I notice my Texas flag shirt and my Daenerys Targaryen costume. I giggle that I can almost set up some hooks on my wall so my clothing can act like a perpetual calendar.

There is this feeling when Winter tucks itself away and Spring’s buds break through the drab brown dirt. There is nothing like it. It highlights everything in gold. Nature’s first green is gold, Her hardest hue to hold.

The Orchid Show at New York Botanical Garden in The Bronx is a guarantee of an afternoon of unparalleled prettiness. You can’t take a bad picture of an orchid and the faces they make are so broad and expressive. Some are cheerful and friendly, some are seductive and dark, all evoke a bit of magic in me… and the bunch of other people crowding around them.

I call these ones male orchids. 🀣

Fun with male orchids. For two classy ladies, we were way too amused by silly orchid anatomy jokes.

The cactus where your heart should be has lovely little flowers…

Is there a function to this much beauty? Let’s say no and bask…

We worked up a tremendous appetite and headed to Supernatural, the all-vegan pop-up at Craft NY. The food was a colorful collaboration between vegan chef superstar Chloe Coscarelli and Tom Colicchio. And it aligned perfectly to the afternoon. There was even flowers out front! Fake plastic flowers…

Even our drinks were bright and gorgeous: Dragonfruit Lemonade

Our edible flowers: Butternut Nachos: butternut-cashew queso, maple chorizo and tomato salsa, The Cauliflower Tacos (the best!): arugula. sweet & spicy chili sauce and black sesame, and The Beet Mac & Cheese: beet-cashew cream, pine nut ricotta, and brazil nut cheeze. Everything was so very delicious!

Did I mention these were the best?

So beautiful… but a bit more watery than I prefer. I wanted it to be pink and creamy. Imagine pink cream. Aaaah.

The ton of beautifully sprinkled layer cakes we did not partake it.

She took the long way home. But Spring is great for taking the long way home.

To a pretty day in every way.
