May the Fourth Be With You (2023)

One of my favorite baking themes merges with my love of costumes on Star Wars Day! This May the Fourth had some themed treats, starting with Han in the carbonite chocolates.

A few air bubbles, but this is the first time I have used this mold. Next time I will be more careful.

They’re precious

I bought the Star Wars cakelet pan from Williams Sonoma. It was well worth it. The cakes came out so detailed. I was really excited about the results.

[For future baking / interested parties: The irregular cavity size of pan had me experimenting with levels of batter. Having to make cakes for my class of 29, I filled each cavity with a 3-TB scoop of batter, followed by a 1-TB scoop of batter (I have these scoopers.) Despite what it may seem, this rises cakes to the top level of the pan–though I gave the R2D2 always got a little bit more. And as far as baking, I baked for 20-23 minutes.]

Making enough for my students!

I decided to glaze them, though they didn’t need it.

Some wears… since my school had to reschedule state math exam for May the 4th, I had two days of related garb.

May the Sith, the day of the class celebration…

The kids’ light sabers

While we are on the theme, some shots from the desert Slave Leia shoot I did while in the Mojave desert in February. The shoot was to create a gift for my guy, a major Star Wars fan. I had it planned for some time. I am sharing now as I am proud of my natural femininity. And the costume is pretty spectacular.

In the motel getting ready… then I traveled an hour in my slave costume for a first draft of a photo shoot. I hope to do again with help as they were way too many variables to control myself.

May the Fourth be with you!
