Los Angeles Vegan
All the Eats

The gang back in LA. Really, going to LA feels like going to a friend’s house. There is a comfort and at-home-ness I have always felt there. So with all significant tourist attractions kinda already done, it is always about the amazing vegan food there!

Just What I Kneaded in Frogtown was truly just what I needed. All vegan and scrumptious sweet and savory choices.

So many treats…

But I went with savory. The Fried Tingle “chicken” patty topped with honey mustard, house made dill pickles, cabbage slaw, and mayo on their delicious brioche bun.

Very good! Could have been better with some craggy crag on the breading

Cross-section, because I always want to see the cross-section!

Onward to Nic’s on Beverly. They’re known for their huge Detroit-style pizza… which we would partake in.

First libations. My drink had Dole Whip in it!

The Beet Tartare was yummy but dare I say lacking in beet flavor? It was perhaps subdued for the masses. But I’m a beet freak.

Grilled Broccolini ย in chipotle tahini, topped with buttered bread crumbs, pickled onions and shiso. Glorious.

The main attraction! A thick, doughy crust with marinara, cheese and oregano

It was divine, but in a very guilty way. The amount of bread is obscene. Three of us split one pie and I was barely able to eat my share.

Onward to a quick stop at Creamo!

Strawberry (“Strawberrylab” i.e. Steroelab ) with the chocolate shell and whipped cream topping. Always a great lace for a treat.

Delicias Bakery and Some makes traditional Mexican sweets vegan style!

The top two racks are what vegans can choose from

Alfajores…

I got a pineapple turnover and a vanilla conchas. Love an authentic eatery who considers vegans in their menu. I would love to try more!

In Beverly Hills, Chaumont Vegan is right next to the regular Chaumont.

A great selection of treats… but I only have one stomach!

I got the chocolate almond croissant. It had great flavor but layers were not airy and delicate.. more compact. Wish I would have taken a picture. If I was in Beverly Hills again I’d go Ladurรฉe instead.

We really wanted fresh veggies, so we made a quick stop at Flore cafe for some amazing salad craft. Normally I don’t like going somewhere I have been already when I’m in LA.. because there is so much I haven’t tried yet. But this was a really necessary nutrient-packed meal.

I got “The Salad”… Bed of mixed greens with portions of tofu egg salad, roasted beets, edamame salad, carrot, tomato, baked tofu and daikon sprout. With hummus and miso dressing. Perfection!

Last but not least, Doomie’s. Sure I had been here also, but it is opened 24 hours and so it was the only place open after two tiki bars. I also wanted to relive this Big Mac shot.

But this time it didn’t taste exactly like the Big Mac like the first time. I guess that is why it’s called “The Big D” now..

But it did the trick! I’ll have to make my own again.
