Long Island’s Vegan Pride Enjoy
Wading River, New York

I was excited to learn that Pride Enjoy now had its own storefront on Long Island. Wading River now has a place for top quality gluten-free, vegan sweetness–in varying forms.

Presentation comes first and all these treats spoke loud and clear–these aren’t your average gluten-free vegan options that you’ll tolerate because it has the labelling you need. These are the treats you deserve–because even though you follow a special diet, you still have discerning taste.

And then the taste. I already knew Pride Enjoy nailed rainbow cookies. But to see the range of treats was so pleasing. And each one, made with care–small details not overlooked. Like this chocolate pudding pie. The subtle saltiness of the crust made the thick pudding (not at all loose) and the dollop of delicious cream sing. Each component well executed, resulting in dreamy bite after bite.

Another angle… I want to talk about how important sweetness balance is to a treat with multiple components. I’ve had so many treats that offer just a simple sweet sugar surge as its flavor. That is not what I enjoy in my vegan treat. The cream on top of this pie had a nice tang, complementing the chocolate and the flavorful crust. This is where I can see the care. Pride Enjoy‘s treats are definitely a step above most I’ve had.

Note: this was after hours on the train back to Brooklyn. Still beautiful… and sturdy as a pie should be.

Onward to this white chocolate coated lemon cake. Here we go again with out of this world deliciousness… with a completely different flavor and texture profile! It was like a really big petit four… Pretty is the first yum. Then the white chocolate coating, whose vegan version is notoriously over-sweet or bland like candle wax, was the next discovery. It was smooth, just sweet enough and its bite did not smash the light texture of the lemon cake.

The buttercream between the layers was fluffy–not waxy–and, again, cradled the delicate texture of the cake. These are amazing vegan feats. I would love to see different flavor combinations of this cake!

Did I gush enough about Pride Enjoy? I meant to. Vegan baked goods are so often flawed… and so we often we just swallow it. I am so pleased that the bar is being raised. I cannot wait to taste more from Pride Enjoy.
